What to notice

• Colmar stays open past Christmas, unlike Strasbourg. That is the practical difference between them.
• The same site dates the villages: Eguisheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr each have their own pages in this guide.

What to eat and drink

Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.

• Kougelhopf, flammekueche and vin chaud are Alsace. The six markets do not share one published menu.

Planning notes

• Stay in Colmar and visit a village on a day that village is actually open. Kaysersberg is weekends.
• The canals are the photograph. They are also where everyone stands at 16:30.

Getting there

Colmar station is about 20 minutes on foot from the old town, or a short bus. Trains from Strasbourg take around half an hour.

When to go

A weekday after Christmas, between 27 and 29 December, if you want the town without the opening-weekend crowd — and after you have checked the hours.
