Cologne is several markets. This page is the cathedral market. On the same city site: Neumarkt (Markt der Engel) and Rudolfplatz (Nikolausdorf) share 16 November–23 December and are also closed on 22 November. Heinzels Wintermärchen is 23 November–23 December on Alter Markt, and 23 November 2026–10 January 2027 on Heumarkt, closed 24 and 25 December.

Sunday to Wednesday 11:00–21:00, Thursday and Friday 11:00–22:00, Saturday 10:00–22:00.

What to notice

• The city page describes a tall fir on Roncalliplatz and a light canopy, and puts the tram stop at Dom/Hauptbahnhof.
• It is the market people mean when they say they are going to Cologne for the cathedral. The others are worth knowing so you do not arrive at Heumarkt on a day this one has already closed.

What to eat and drink

Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.

• koeln.de mentions local biscuits and a cathedral liqueur among the things sold. The rest of the menu is not fixed in the page we read.
• Reibekuchen and Glühwein are what Cologne markets are known for. That is custom, not a 2026 guarantee.

Planning notes

• 22 November is a dead day at the cathedral, Neumarkt and Rudolfplatz.
• If you are in the city after Christmas, read the Heumarkt dates before you assume everything has closed. Alter Markt does not follow Heumarkt into January.
• The cathedral steps are the photograph. They are also the bottleneck.

Dom/Hauptbahnhof, on lines 5, 16 and 18, is the stop the city names. Cologne Hauptbahnhof is beside the cathedral.
