Dresden Striezelmarkt
Dresdner Striezelmarkt
25 November – 24 December 2026
Source: Striezelmarkt Dresden · read 2 November
The 592nd Striezelmarkt, on the Altmarkt. The market’s own site publishes 25 November to 24 December 2026.
The visitor site and a city page disagree by half an hour on opening day. Both are linked from Dresden’s own web.
The season
The visitor site lists opening day, 25 November, as 16:00–21:00, then 10:00–21:00 daily through 23 December, and 10:00–14:00 on 24 December. A city page and the spring stall tender say the opening afternoon begins at 16:30. Follow the visitor site, and check it again if you are timing the first hour.
What to notice
- The market site calls this the 592nd Striezelmarkt and places it on the Altmarkt, opposite the Kulturpalast.
- It lists themed weekends: the Stollenfest on 5 December and the children’s festival on 20 December, among others.
- The city describes a large Erzgebirge pyramid on the market. Treat record claims on the city page as the city’s own wording.
What to eat and drink
Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.
- Dresdner Christstollen is named on the official market site, including a show bakery.
- Pflaumentoffel, the prune figure, has its own festival day on the 2026 programme (19 December).
- Glühwein and sausages are the ordinary accompaniment. The site does not publish a fixed menu.
Planning notes
- If you care about the Stollenfest, the market’s programme puts it on 5 December 2026.
- Opening day starts in the afternoon, not at 10:00. Do not arrive at breakfast time on 25 November.
- The Altmarkt is flat and central. The crowd is the constraint, not the walking.
Getting there
Dresden Hauptbahnhof is a short tram or a walk of roughly 15 minutes to the Altmarkt. The tram stop Altmarkt is on the square.
When to go
A weekday in the first half of December, if you can be there for one of the themed weekends without needing Saturday night.
