What to notice

• Lübeck is useful if you are travelling after Christmas. The main market’s published end is 30 December, later than Hamburg’s Rathausmarkt.
• The hospital craft market is only ten days. Do not arrive on 10 December and expect it.

What to eat and drink

Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.

• Marzipan is Lübeck’s fame, and Niederegger’s own basar is dated on the tourism list. The confectioner is not the same thing as the town market.

Planning notes

• Pick one market from the list rather than trying to see all of them after dark. The old town is beautiful and the cobbles are uneven.
• Hamburg is under an hour away if you want a city market the same week.
