The season

Sunday to Thursday 11:00–19:00, Friday and Saturday 11:00–20:00.

Closed on Totensonntag, 22 November 2026.

What to notice

• The town is the sight. The market is smaller, and closes earlier in the evening, than Nuremberg or Munich.
• The official page also gives 2027 in advance: 19 November to 23 December, closed 21 November. That is next year, not this one.

What to eat and drink

Unless a sentence names its source, these are specialities associated with the city, not a confirmed menu for 2026. Stall lists change every season.

• Snowballs (Schneebälle) are the pastry Rothenburg is known for, in and out of Advent. They are a town speciality, not a line item we saw on the 2026 hours page.
• Glühwein in the market square, with the timber houses around it, is the reason most people stop.

Planning notes

• Stay in town overnight or leave before the coach park empties. Day-trippers arrive late morning and leave mid-afternoon.
• 22 November is closed. Do not build a Sunday around it.
• Evenings end at 19:00 on weekdays. This is not a late market.

Getting there

Trains to Rothenburg ob der Tauber usually require a change at Steinach. The station is outside the walls; the Marktplatz is a walk of about 10 minutes.

When to go

A weekday in the last week of November or the first week of December, arriving as the coaches leave.
